New Old Stock K40Y-9 Russian Military Surplus Paper in Oil (PIO) capacitor - .022uF 1000V . The K40Y-9 are high quality PIO capacitors made for Russian military. Dimensions : length -35mm(1.43''); diameter -10mm(0.41''); pins length 28mm(1.1'') The conductor is made of aluminum foil and the dielectric is oil saturated paper, glass sealed in a metal body. These capacitors provide excellent sonic characteristics, and a high tolerance within a wide temperature range .022 is common value in Les Pauls, SG's ES Series, Epiphones, any guitar using Humbucker Pickups, as well as some newer Fenders. These pair nicely with a .047uf for the bridge or a .015uf for neck. These are a less expensive alternative to the more expensive .022/400v's. As indicated above this cap is fairly long, so it is best to top mount them, but they will easily fit in the cavity of a Les Paul.

I wanted to replace the orange drop caps in my '72 Telecaster, and I decided to try these out instead of shelling out 50 bucks for a pair of "Bumblebee" caps. All I can say is WOW! There's a great tonal difference. The sound out of the guitar is much more smooth now, with more harmonic content present. Pay attention to the pictures as these are much larger than most caps, but they went into my '72 with no body mods needed. They will fit just fine unless you have an unusually tight cavity. Don't waste money on pricier caps, all you're paying for is the name. Get these.
